Yes we can!

Hey everyone. There is this wonderful video that tells about a group of students thinking differently, and breaking the barriers! Sounds like YFCI, no? But this video is really inspiring and encouraging.. so please check it out!

Skid Row Series

Hey Guys. Some of my favorite videos on YouTube are the ones made by GOOD Magazine. But this time, filmmaker Sam Slovick, brings a whole new perspective. Skid Row is a region in downtown Los Angeles where gang bangers and drug addicts roam. But change is coming. Check out GOOD's videos:

Skid Row: Part One: Introduction

Part 1: The lay of the land on Skid Row in Los Angeles, the worst social disaster in America.

Skid Row: Part Two: Kids

Part 2: Teenaged Skid Row filmmaker Franklin Arburtha carries the mantle of disenfranchised youth on skid row.

Skid Row: Part Three: Drugs

Part 3: Two sides of the same coin: Super Dope cop, Commander Andrew Smith from Central Division lays down the law, plus former Skid Row crack dealers, gutter rappers Choc Nitty and Six Reasons from the infamous Snowman Cliq, come correct.

Hope you enjoyed! They are really interesting; GREAT JOB GOOD MAGAZINE! (I love them).

The Effects of the War

Guess what? It's time for another blog post!

Today was an unusual day. It was filled with happiness, but then again there was the incident. It was a normal English class. Most of the class was doing their work. When we were done, we talked a little about the war. I, of course, started arguing against it. It was a long, and terrible, argument. Things started turning ugly. Then, I thought of the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis that died because our our stupid war. I could barely choke out what I was saying. And I cried.

It was the first time, that I can remember, crying in school since maybe 3rd Grade. And you know what? I didn't care. I just couldn't take it anymore. Here, we were arguing about politics, and thousands of Iraqis suffer today. Thousands have died. And (I hope) Thousands of lives will be saved if we pull out.

Time for another blog

Ahh... How I wish I would keep this blog updated! Well, I'll try :) Let see.. my life..

First off; I got first place in a 50 meter backstroke competition! I beat the guy by only 1 second, but the most important thing was that I beat my own time. I also beat my time in the 50 meter freestyle, and got 2nd place. This was definately my best swim meet so far, and I hope I get better and better :-)

Also, I won a scholarship to attend a saxophone lessons. I was flabergasted because I had no idea I would get it :) The lessons start tomorrow, so wish me luck with the new teacher. I've never had a "private" lesson teacher before, so this ought to be interesting.

Hmmm... Well thats about it. I'll try to post here more often, and maybe I'll get in a habit of it :-)

March on Chicago!

Well, last weekend I went to Chicago. It wasn't a ordinary trip to Chicago. It was the United for Peace and Justice's march in the Midwest against the Iraq War. It was an amazing experience; one I will always remember. There were thousands of people. The police, almost 300 of them present at the march, estimated that there were 5,000 people at the march. UFPJ estimated 30,000. The Chicago March was only one of 11 marches around the country; being the 2nd biggest (next to New York City). Here are some of my pictures from the event:

I carried this sign ^^
You can find more of my pictures from the march by clicking here.

My view of Optimism

Today is a good day. Yesterday was a good day. Tomorrow will be a good day. Optimsm is something that we must be a part of. Pessimism must be eradicated. We must all unite and become one, become one for the world. Each of us can do something to make the world a better place.
